Police Regional Office 6 recognizes the important role of the family, the school, the church and the entire community in fighting illegal drugs and criminality.

A total of 438, 184 house hold were visited, 20, 836 personally appeared at different police stations in the province,
1, 487 operations were conducted 2, 088 arrested and 35 individual died in police operations. These are all Police Regional Office 6 accomplishment in the anti-illegal drug campaign for the month of July 01, 2016 to September 19, 2017.

These anti-illegal drug campaigns of the region are Double Barrel, Double Barrel Alpha and the Double barrel Reloaded/Tokhang Reboot.

With these accomplishments, there are still blames and condemnation received by the police for alleged abuses or excessive exercises of its law enforcement functions. But the positive aspect of police operations which resulted to the arrest of drug personalities in the region, the identification of the pushers/users, confiscation of thousands of kilos of illegal drugs and the continuous internal cleansing of the police organization in the region seems to be forgotten because of the isolated exploitation.

With this PRO6 is asking for the cooperation of the family, the school, the churchand the community to prevent the proliferation of drug abuse, crime and other illegal activities. The family that parents played a very important role inculcating to their children good customs, practice, habit and others. The schools were the youth molded to be a responsible citizen of the country; the church provides moral and spiritual guidance to the people while the community work collectively and share the responsibility in ensuring public safety and security.

In taking cognizance of the role of this 4, Police Regional Office 6 in coordination with the concerned agencies and sectors undertakes pro-active measures to empower and strengthen the family, the church, the school and the barangays in the community. The measures will primarily focus on demand reduction activities purposely to complement the region’s supply reduction efforts in the war against illegal drugs. The same measures will be implemented in support to the eventual conduct of barangay drug clearing operations.

The region shall initiate massive anti- illegal drug advocacy in coordination with the academic sector and other stakeholders. The target audiences are the youth, such as pupils, students to include out of school youth. The preparation has already been undertaken; they were 48 personnel coming from different Police Provincial Offices (PPOs) trained by the Dangerous Drug Board for the conduct of Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) in secondary and tertiary Schools. All PCR PNCOs from PPOS and Municipal Police Stations in tandem with Bless Our Cops (BOC) Movement were trained in Battle against Illegal Drugs (BAD). BAD trained personnel and BOC will be in-charge of the primary and elementary pupils.

Meanwhile, PRO6 has already coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in empowering the City, Municipal and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADAC/MADAC/CADAC) that will take lead in the conduct of barangay drug clearing operations in their respective villages/municipalities.

“We Perform as We Transform”, PRO6 is appealing to the public to do their share to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs because the fight against illegal drugs is everyone’s concern.(PO3 Sharon F Balitor)
