A totaled of six hundred twenty eight (628) uniformed personnel of Police Regional 6 whose birthday fall in the month of September undergo Handgun Proficiency Test (HPT).

The test starts today October 03 up to October 14, 2016 at PRO6 Firing Range, Camp Martin Teofilo B Delgado, Iloilo City.

The purpose of this HPT is to encourage each personnel to know not only how to aim, shoot, maintain and operate their service handgun but also to develop their skills in the field of practical and defensive shooting. This is also the way to determine the shooting ability of the personnel.

This will be conducted monthly.

Police Regional Office 6 record shows as of September 26, 2016 there is 17,703 illegal drug surrenderee, 16,582 of which are users and 1,121 are pushers. This is distributed into the province of; Aklan 1,830, Antique 1,044, Capiz 5,277, Guimaras 632, Iloilo 6,692 and Iloilo City 2,228. This is the result of PRO6 massive house to house visitation.

 Meanwhile, Project HVT/LVT resulted to the arrest of 864 drug personalities to which 693 are pushers and 171 users.

On the other hand, a total of 14 were killed after they opt to fight against police operatives during the conduct of police operations. This 14 were from; ICPO 6, IPPO 6, Guimaras 1 and 1 from Capiz.

PRO6 continuously intensifies campaign against illegal drugs by conducting activities such as “Sikad Kontra Droga”, Drug Awareness Campaign through symposium in different provinces in the region, creation of “Pulis sa Barangay”, (its main function is to closely monitor the activities of all drug personalities who voluntarily surrendered to the police whether he or she is undergoing rehabilitation or not) and distribution of INFO Kit.

     Police Chief Superintendent Bernardo A Diaz, acting regional director of PRO6 headed the inauguration of the newly constructed type B/C standard municipal police station of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo today February 11, 2016.

     The police station is a two (2) story building with a total floor area of two hundred eighty eight (288) square meters and a contract amount of four million one hundred nineteen thousand pesos (Php 4, 119.000.00).

     The construction was founded through the Trust Receipt Fund of the PNP and it was completed within one hundred eighty (180) calendar days.

     The inauguration was graced by Hon. Hernan Biron Sr, Municipal Mayor of Barotac Nuevo and other local elected officials.

     This project is one of PRO6 PNP Modernization program to enhance its logistical capabilities especially the police stations in order to give better services to the people and the community whom we oath to serve and protect. (PO3 Sharon F Balitor)
